Any lasik eye surgery experiences...Good/Bad? The vast majority of people who have had Lasik have been satisfied with the results, but the results of others (good or bad) does not mean Lasik may be right for you. Every one is unique. You wouldn't put in a friend's contact lenses and expect to see well. Neither can you judge what you may get from Lasik by the experience of a few individuals. http://www.usaeyes.org/lasik/faq/do-it.h... I work for a nonprofit Lasik patient advocacy. We don't provide Lasik, just Lasik information and we certify Lasik doctors who meet our patient outcome requirements. Our organization's Quality Standards Advisory Committee evaluted several studies from the FDA to peer-reviewed journals to determine that about 3% of people who have vision correction surgery (all types) have an unresolved complication at six months postop, with 0.5% being serious. Even our own report does not indicate what you may achieve with Lasik. Only a comprehensive evaluation from a competent eye doctor can do that, and even then there are no guarantees with any surgery. Source(s): Glenn Hagele USAEyes I am not a doctor. I had PRK done February 2004, and have had nothing but excellent visoin ever since. I used to be 20/200 and now have 20/15 vision. No problems at all, I only wish I had done it sooner! I haven't had the surgery myself...but I've had a lot of family and friends that have gotten it done. It seems the results are always pretty good. A couple of them complained about a little bit of pain and difficulty seeing for a couple days, but that clears up quickly. My brother-in-law had this surgery. Hoping to get his eyesight to 20/20 so he could maybe get his commercial pilots license. However, something went wrong. He got an infection that the Dr. did not treat correctly and ended up with double vision. BTW, if you have this surgery, and it doesn't go well, you can't go back to glasses, it's over. I'm sure many people have had this surgery with no problems and are very very happy. But once in a while, it doesn't work, and you're stuck. Think about it. Weigh everything carefully. Good Luck. There is many cases of lasik surgery that become unsucessfull , but of course doctor don't tell that. They just want to sell the surgery. Maybe a friend told you that the surgery was ok, but years later problems began. Check this website: www.lasikdisaster.com Im using contacts since 20 years without problems. Why have the risk ?. Think it. |
